It's that time of year again. Selection meetings are in full swing and everyone at the Missouri Evans Scholarship House is excited to find out who will be in the New Scholar class. However, we are not only celebrating the future at the Mizzou House, but we are also getting ready to celebrate our past. Next fall will be the 50-year anniversary of our chapter. On Sept. 15, we will be hosting House tours and then there will be a reception at the Mizzou stadium. We cannot wait to see all the Alums come back to celebrate with us! It will be a great chance to hear some stories and see the friendships that have lasted over the years.
So far, we have had a great semester here at Mizzou. We had our first highway clean up where we went out on a Sunday morning and picked up all the trash we could find on the side of the road. Our newly elected Executive Vice President Ryan Roemerman has several more exciting philanthropy events planned. We are looking forward to volunteering at the chili cook off and at adaptive gymnastics later this month.
The final highlight of this month was our annual Winter Outing in Chicago. Many Evans Scholars spent the weekend exploring the city by shopping, ice skating, visiting the Bean at Millennium Park and of course enjoying a delicious lunch at Portillos. On Saturday, our executive board attended some great meetings and got to listen to lots of wonderful advice given by the past presidents across all Evans Scholars chapters. We were so excited for our freshman class for earning a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Finally, we ended the weekend with the Golf Ball dance, where we danced the night away.
So far we have gotten off to a great semester and we are excited to see what other great things we will accomplish.
